Boven Church (Vogeleiland) - Kampen
Kampen was already an important trading town in the Middle Ages. The Boven Church was also built in this era. This Gothic cross basilica had two predecessors, but not much is known about them. However, interesting historical architecture has surfaced during restorations and excavations.
Role in the book Vogeleiland:
When Marianne had just disappeared, people prayed for her and the family left behind in the Boven Church. Marianne's father's grandparents faithfully attended this strictly reformed church. Marianne's mother, Toni, was not much into it. In turn, grandpa and grandma were not too keen on Toni and the grandchildren either. Pagan, they thought, and they had no interest in the grandchildren. Because they were prayed for anyway, sometimes Marianne's parents and sister went to the Boven Church.
