Waalenburg is the lively wadden polder In the green, vast middle of Texel. At the Pond of Westerkolk, in this area, there is a small green wooden house. It is a bird-watching hut managed by Natuurmonumenten.

The bird hide can be visited all year round from sunrise to sunset. If you take the time to spot birds, you can spot numerous meadow and reed birds, such as the golden plover, avocet or skylark. A kingfisher or a kestrel is also regularly spotted here.

The cabin is close to the Plassendaal nature farm and the De Hertenkamp viewpoint is also nearby.
