A modern brewery is located on the Oudegracht in Alkmaar that brews modern beers inspired by old brewing traditions. The brewery is called Zeglis, named after a waterway that connected the city centre to the Schermeer lake. This waterway played an important role in the city's transport and trade.

You can sample Zeglis beers at the Zeglis tasting room in the Koffiehuis Alkmaar. The entire Zeglis range is available here and you can book a tasting session where the beers are paired with matching snacks.

The tasting room also has other beers on the menu, with more than 60 bottled varieties and 6 on tap. But you can also just enjoy a good cup of coffee with a piece of cake, a nice lunch or a simple dinner.
