Wildlife route near Nunspeet
Nunspeet, Epe, 't Harde
This route introduces you to the most beautiful forests of the North Veluwe! Start your route from the starting point at De Hoeve van Nunspeet. Nearby, you can visit the Bezoekerscentrum Zandenbos (Visitor Centre Zanden forest), which will give you an idea of what to expect during the cycle route. Then you are already directly in the forest!
You cycle past De Waschkolk, a special and vulnerable nature reserve. Stop here to admire the beautiful heath pond. When the sun's rays manage to find the water, it sparkles beautifully in the light.
Through lush forests, you make your way to Tongeren. Turn off at junction 18 to visit the wildlife viewing screen Vierhouten. Who knows, you might spot a red deer or a roe deer from behind the wooden screen! No luck here? Further on at 't Eperholt you get another chance.
Climb watchtower De Haelberg or walk your way to the Leemkuil, both are places that are a bit hidden, but definitely worth a visit. The unique views of the Veluwe countryside will stay with you forever.
The route runs a few kilometres along the Elburgerweg (N-road) towards 't Harde. During this ride, you will brave the Woldberg, also called De Knobbel by locals. A household name in the area, as it is a tough climb. At the top, you have great views and of course a nice descent!
Once in 't Harde, the next 'mountain' is already waiting for you: Ampies Berg. These beautiful gardens have also become a household name on the Veluwe and far beyond.
The route dives back into the woods and takes you over nature reserve De Haere, where you can enjoy a bit of sand drift before cycling back into cosy Nunspeet.
