Tour The Farm | From Zelhem to Bronkhorst
Bronkhorst, Zelhem, Hummelo
Will you join us on the farm? This route takes you through the rural areas around Bronkhorst and Zelhem. To optimise the rural feeling, we have selected a number of pit stops. The farm shops and windmills on the route may not be a big surprise. But do you expect a real vineyard in the Achterhoek? Or how about an exotic Alpaca Farm near Hummelo? You won't expect that!
Enjoy this route through the countryside around Hummelo, Zelhem, Bronkhorst and Steenderen. You can park your car on the Keppelseweg in Hummelo in the public car park, if you wish, to start your route there. Crossing the village of Gelderland, you cycle towards Zelhem where you will encounter the first windmill. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the view over all those green meadows, maize fields and even grape vines. Take note of the various farms and small villages you cycle through. And get off again in the cosy town of Bronkhorst, the original farmers' settlement near Bronkhorst Castle, which gained city rights in 1482, making it once the smallest town in the Netherlands. Did you know that there is even a crater on Mars named after this little town? All in all, there are quite a few surprises in this agricultural region!
