Orvelte is one of the most beautiful villages in the Netherlands. The centuries-old esdorp, which originated in the 10th century, is characterised by its unique Drenthe character with beautiful monumental farms.
Boswachterij Schoonloo is a beautiful wooded area where badgers live. Sometimes the trees suddenly give way and you unexpectedly stumble upon an open field or a mysterious lake.
The deeper you penetrate into the heart of the sea of trees, the quieter it becomes. A little further on the Orvelterzand you may just run into Scottish Highlanders.
