Terrace route around Diever
Diever, Wapse, Dieverbrug
Pub crawl? No, go on a terrace crawl with the Terrace Route around Diever! Start from Landhotel Diever at junction 69 or from the Tourist Information near junction 51. From there you are soon on the historic Brink van Diever. Time has stood still here since 1950. Three symbols have been placed in the cobblestone pavement: the andreas cross, the alpha and omega, and the sign of faith, hope and love. You cannot miss them when you go round the square. But when you say Diever, you say Shakespeare. On the edge of the village, you pass the Shakespeare Theatre, which has existed since 1947. In the summer, performances are held here and the theatre attracts thousands of visitors.
You are of course in Drenthe, so how could it be otherwise than that you would come across a dolmen? Number D52 is right along the junction route. Discover more about prehistoric times in the OERmuseum.
As you meander through the woods and lovely farmland, you will come across another terrace at just the right moment. It's great to sit down and enjoy the sunshine. Have a nice cup of coffee, lunch or one of the many other specialities. This cycle route lets you enjoy life!
