Rose route in Lottum
Lottum, Broekhuizen, Grubbenvorst
The Limburg countryside is of course always worth seeing, but those who cycle here between the end of June and the end of September will be extra rewarded. After all, this part of the province is known for its rose cultivation. During the said period, the 'flowers of love' are in full bloom. The route takes you past the colourful and fragrant flower fields of various growers and nurseries. Some nurseries have existed since the early 19th century! One thing they have in common: all are of great importance in the rose sector. The vast majority of all roses in the Netherlands and Europe come from this region.
On this route, the scenery takes you past beautiful views and the river Meuse. At the Hertog Jan Brewery, quench your thirst with a guided tour and a refreshing beer. The cosy city centre of Venlo is definitely worth a visit! Settle down at one of the terraces, stroll along the Maasboulevard and admire the historic town hall. After your cycling tour, sleep 'like a rose' at the Theaterhotel in Venlo.
Want to score a bunch of roses along the way? Then deviate a bit from the route between junctions 82 and 83 by cycling via junction 80. You will then pass Rozenkwekerij H. Bruinen with a shop and a real rose vending machine, where you can buy fresh roses daily (cash only). Add the dismount to the route or turn on route guidance to the nursery in the Efita Cycling App.
