Cycle route Ommen adventure

Your cycle route starts in the picturesque town of Ommen, where you start the route towards Dedemsvaart. Soon you cycle through the beautiful nature area of the Vechtdal, surrounded by lush forests and vast fields. Your first Pit stop is Landgoed Het Laer in Ommen, an attractive estate known for its beautiful gardens and monumental buildings. From Landgoed Het Laer, you continue your tour towards Dedemsvaart, where the route takes you through small villages and past farms, as you continue to admire the picturesque landscape of Overijssel. Near the village of Balkbrug, you'll find Molen de Star, an old corn mill still in operation. This Pit stop gives you the chance to learn more about the craft of the miller's trade. Guided tours are given, explaining the history and operation of the mill. After your visit to Molen de Star, continue your route to Witharen, where you will encounter a unique place: the story point about Witharen's border conflicts. This is the place, where you can learn more about the historical battle for the border between Overijssel and Drenthe. Information boards and sound fragments will take you back to the time of these conflicts, when farmers and landowners clashed over the exact boundaries. Back to Ommen, you will once again enter the diverse landscape of this beautiful part of Overijssel.
