In this region you will find a wonderful mix of rural nature and historic cities. Apeldoorn, Deventer and Zutphen form the three characteristic cities in this area, each with their own charm. Between these cities lies a landscape of wooded Veluwe countryside with springs and streams, the open IJssel valley, and the coulisse landscape of the Graafschap and Salland. Apeldoorn is known for its green and wooded surroundings. Here you will find few high-rise buildings, but instead many detached houses in a quiet ‘cottage structure’. The Kroondomein is a vast nature reserve that perfectly matches the green atmosphere of the city. Zutphen and Deventer are historic Hanseatic cities, where cultural history is visible in the old facades, narrow streets and stately churches. These towns breathe history. A cycle route through this region introduces you to the best of nature and cultural history. You cycle past historical sights in the cities and through the varied landscape of the IJsselvallei and the Veluwe.
