Lelystad is one of the youngest cities in the Netherlands. Because the city was built from scratch, there was enough space for architects to design a building. On this cycle route, you will pass a number of special, impressive and modern architectural buildings. Especially Zilverparkkade shows a wide variety of building styles. Each building was designed by a different architect and therefore has its own unique appearance. Flevoland also proved to be a great source of inspiration for artists. You will come across various works of art. One that you cannot miss is the gigantic sculpture Exposure on the Markerstrekdam. Another one that you will not easily overlook (literally!) is the sculpture Boven Water at the Lelybaan. A little outside the city you will find the Observatorium, the first 'land art' (art incorporated in the landscape) in Flevoland. By now, more artists have woven their work into the polder nature.
