Cycle route along the Mallumse Mill

During this cycle route, you will travel from Twente to the Achterhoek in search of the Mallumse Molen. And this is not just any mill: the Mallum Mill is a water mill that is still in operation as a grain and peeling mill. Although the mill is beautiful and is appreciated by many a tourist and resident, it was not always so. In the eighteenth century, the mill was run by the Lord of Mallum, who turned the Mallum Mill into a compulsory mill. This meant that all farmers in the area were obliged to have their grain ground here. Nowadays, only voluntary milling takes place, regularly on Saturday afternoons. Even when they are not milling, it is worth stopping off here. The Mallum Mill together with the Muldershuis opposite and the accompanying barn, are listed as national monuments. The Mallum Mill is not the only pumping station you will encounter along the way. Just outside the village of Neede, you pass the Hollandsche Molen (Dutch Mill). Although it is not a water mill, but a wind mill, this pumping station also has its charm.
