Delve into the war history around Den Bosch. During the Second World War this city had a lot to endure. In the city and in the surrounding region, the war has left its traces. With this bicycle route you will come across many of these monumental places. There was a lot of fighting to liberate this city from the German occupiers. An estimated 240,000 shells were fired during the liberation of Den Bosch, leaving large holes in the city. The beautiful station building was lost, and other buildings were severely damaged. But also, during the occupied period this region knew a lot of suffering. There were many fallen soldiers on both the British and German sides, many civilian casualties, not to mention the Jewish community. Almost the entire Bossche Jewish community was deported to concentration and extermination camps. This route takes you to the places where the struggle between the occupiers and the liberators was most intense within the city of Den Bosch and beyond. For example, in Berlicum at the remains of the German trenches. Or the Memorial Haaren, where a prison was facilitated at the time. In Vught stands the National Monument Camp Vught, the museum where the sad events of concentration camp Vught are remembered. All in all, a route that will leave a deep impression.
