Landscape route
Leiden, Sassenheim, Lisse
The Landscape Route lets you see and experience the Dutch polders in 30 kilometres. Cycle through the municipality of Teylingen and the old Boterhuispolder, which is over 400 years old. On the way, look out over the Vrouw Vennepolder, where you will spot lots of meadow birds. Take the ferry across the Kagerplassen to Kaagiland, where many historical sights await you. In spring, you can enjoy the flower bulb fields in full bloom, but also in September and October, when the dahlias are in bloom. The cosy centre of Warmond is an excellent place for a break. Tip: check ferry schedules well in advance.
