Limburg is not only a beautiful province because of the breathtaking natural beauty it has to offer. But also its rich history, the hilly region provided an extra layer of defence for the many castles. The castles now form pearls that can be admired and enjoyed by all. An example of one of these pearls is Kasteel Schaloen, located in the picturesque town of Valkenburg. This castle, from the 14th century, has a rich history and has had several noble families as residents. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park, where you can now stroll and relax in the shade of old trees. It is one of many examples of the magnificent castles Limburg has to offer. So it is no wonder that Limburg is a popular destination for tourists who want to enjoy the rich history, beautiful nature and extraordinary architecture the province has to offer.
