Wouldn't you also love to learn more about the Westland region of South Holland? Cycle along on this cycle route through this distinctive part of the Netherlands known for its deeply intertwined past in horticulture and craft traditions and learn all about it. As early as the 17th century, Westlanders began growing vegetables, flowers and fruit in greenhouses, making them known as pioneers in greenhouse horticulture. This tradition continues to this day. Westland is, with good reason, often called the "Glass City" because of the many greenhouses looming in the landscape. Westland already starts at the coast, so you can enjoy refreshing sea breezes and beautiful views over the North Sea during your trip. Further inland, you can look forward to a beautifully varied landscape. In season, you will find fields of colourful flowers, fruit orchards and, of course, all year round you can see the characteristic glass greenhouses adorning the horizon. On top of all that beauty, we also selected some Pit stops for you to experience the region to the fullest. A visit to the Westlands Museum is of course not to be missed, to gain more insight into the history of this area in the information centre or to enjoy a stroll through the historical garden. Of course, we also pay attention to the old crafts in this region. That is why we selected an old mill and a carpentry museum. The carpenters who worked here maintained a large number of mills in the area. But there is also room for other history and even modern art. Should you want to visit ICOON, the museum of minimalist art and design, do check the website first to see when they are open. This cycle route through Westland not only offers a dip into history and beautiful landscapes, but it also introduces you to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of this region.
