Cycle Route River and Country
Geldermalsen, Maurik, Tiel
River and country: You will see enough of both during this cycle route! Of course you can start where you want, but if you follow our route, you will first cycle towards Geldermalsen. Did you know that this town originated from the present-day Buurmalsen? You will also pass Buurmalsen during this route. Buren has a nice centre, definitely a must to stop and enjoy. Cross the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal and the Nederrijn river to reach the Rijn en Lek windmill. This mill is located in Wijk bij Duurstede. Cycle along the water towards Maurik where you will find a viewpoint. You can also fish here at the trout fishery. Pass by Zoelen, Erichem, Tiel and Ophemert, where you will find a castle of the same name. Near Waardenburg, there is also a beautiful castle. The estate has a high cultural-historical and scenic value and a great diversity of flora and fauna. It is managed by Gelders Landscape. Nature walks are regularly organised here. All in all, it is a considerable route with beautiful and interesting opportunities to get off the bike. Do you want to enjoy yourself and get off your bike every now and then?
