Cycle route through three provinces
Asperen, Woudrichem, Heukelum
All good things come in threes, says an old folk wisdom. Then you're in luck with this cycle route: it takes you through the three provinces of Gelderland, Noord-Brabant and Zuid-Holland as well as along the Linge, the Waal and the Afgedamde Maas. You will also pass three beautiful places namely the fortified town of Woudrichem, beautiful Asperen on the Linge and the early medieval town of Heukelum. Woudrichem is surrounded by fortifications and has a rich history as a trading centre. In Asperen, located on the banks of the Linge, you can enjoy the many historical buildings, including a medieval church and a former orphanage. Heukelum has a beautiful old centre and an imposing castle ruin. Continue the series and get off along the way to explore at three different forts. Finally, as icing on the cake, you'll pass De Glasblazerij and Battery under Brakel. All in all, a versatile cycle route that takes you past beautiful spots and gives you plenty to see and discover.
