This cycle route takes you into the old centre of Middelburg, where it is certainly worth stopping off. In addition to the many beautiful old buildings, there is also a good chance that there is a party going on: King's Day, Middelburg Book City, the Jazz Festival, Middelburg Vol-koren, the Braderie, the Zonnebootrace, the Brassbandfestival, the Taste of Zeeland, City of Dance XXL, Go Dutch Festival, Mosselfeesten, Folklorist days, Carnival, Late Summer Festival, Night of the Night, Popronde, Christmas Night or Middelburg Winter city. 'Three times is a charm', they must have thought in Arnemuiden. After the little town was swallowed up by the Arne twice in 1440 and 1460, Arnemuiden was founded for the third time in 1462. And with success, Arnemuiden is still there today. Although Alva tried to destroy the city during the Eighty Years' War... Through a landscape full of waterways, you arrive in Vlissingen, situated on the Westerschelde. The town is one of the seventeen protected townscapes in Zeeland and has more than 300 monuments. Cycle along the boulevard and look out over the beaches. Also take a look at the Vlissingen wind organ on the south pier. This organ consists of bamboo pipes. If the wind blows hard enough, it will sound through the organ as if a choir is singing. Vlissingen is a city with a rich maritime past.
