This beautiful cycle route takes you through the old, rustic forest area around Amersfoort, where you will be surrounded by ancient trees. As you paddle along, the historic heart of the ‘Keistad’ looms, where the medieval streets and charming canals invite you to dismount and let yourself be carried away by its rich history. Here you can feel the old stones under your feet and taste the atmosphere of days gone by. As soon as you leave the city, a spectacular landscape that feels almost otherworldly opens up: the Soester Dunes. This immense shifting sand area, where the wind has free rein, creates a constantly changing landscape that looks different every time. The contrast between the shady forests and the vast sandy plains is stunning. But the tour offers more than just nature. Take a diversion to Park Vliegbasis Soesterberg, where history and adventure intersect in a place that was once an air force base. Or opt for a relaxing break in Soest, where you can settle down for a cup of coffee or an exquisite meal while enjoying the cosy village atmosphere.
