Nostalgic farmer's route on the Veluwe
Barneveld, Voorthuizen, Harskamp
Immerse yourself in the countryside of this part of the Veluwe. In Barneveld, you can take a look at the Pluimveemuseum (poultry museum), for which Barneveld is famous. The Nairac museum also has special exhibitions. Their Archaeology department is special.
From Barneveld, you head into the countryside. Via farms and meadows with grazing cattle, you cycle in the direction of Lunteren. At junction 01, take a short detour to stand at the Centre of the Netherlands! Between the woods at Lunteren, you come across a farm from a very long time ago: from the Iron Age, a special monument. Then you head along forest edges and through Veluwe villages such as Wekerom and Harskamp to Voorthuizen. Here you pass through the "Wilbrinkbos", which is also popularly known as the "Heuveltjesbos" (forest of hills). The hills that you see here are former shifting dunes and were created during the last ice age. This is unique for the Netherlands and that is why this place is a special entrance to the Veluwe.
Conclude your day out at one of the museums in the middle of the countryside: the Oude Ambachten & Speelgoed (Old Crafts & Toys) Museum in Terschuur or Museum farm De Grote Glind in Barneveld.
