Gravelbike cycle route Drenthe
Gieten, Annen, Zuidlaren
Drenthe is a real cycling province, there are no less than 2,100 kilometres of cycling paths connecting the most beautiful places. Most cycling paths are therefore neatly provided with asphalt, but there are also a number of unpaved cycling paths that are irresistible to a gravel biker. Therefore, we have selected a cycle route with, in between all paved cycle paths, as many rough paths as possible that are perfect for cycling with a gravel bike! Park your car at the Wedbroeken gate at cycle junction 85 and off you go!
On the way, you will cycle right through the impressive natural beauty of the Drentsche Aa National Park. As you might expect in historic Drenthe, each area has its own history. Most areas were created in the last ice ages, for example the Balloërveld. Flints from the Stone Age have been found here and you can still discover traces of former life. The Drentsche Aa stream still follows its natural course, as it has done for millennia.
This ancient history, the beautiful nature with both paved and unpaved roads, gives the ultimate combination for a tough, spectacular gravel cycle route.
