Fun and educational children's route around Houten
Houten
Biking is not only fun and healthy but also very educational! During this child-friendly bike route you'll pass several forts, castles, playgrounds and a nice petting zoo.
Among other things, you will pass Fort 't Hemeltje, the last fort added to the New Dutch Waterline. Now it mainly houses birds and bats. Around the fort, children can follow the spy trail and do fun assignments. You will not run out of these impressive structures! Also stop by the Fort near Vechten Waterline Museum, where you can learn all about the Dutch Waterline. How do they work? Where do you find them? The Netherlands is known for cooperating with water rather than fighting it. Here you'll learn all about it.
After all that info, of course you want to expend some energy. You cycle past Buitengoed de Boomgaard, where you can play in the beautiful playground for a fee. If you like animals, this is a great route for you! You cycle past a cozy play farm. Here you can cuddle the goats, pet the soft donkey or tickle the pig's head. Had enough cuddling? Clamber around the playground near the farm for a while.
This trail is the recipe for a fun day out with the whole family! Playing, learning and being outdoors are the important ingredients.
