Did you know that the Maas already flowed through the Netherlands some 125,000 years ago? Among others at this place, now the largest nature reserve in Brabant: the Maashorst. Discover this fairytale nature reserve full of dark pine forests, purple heathland, swampy pools and fens, during a day of cycling. You might even come face to face with one of the large grazers: the wisent, Tauros or Exmoor pony!
Besides the beautiful nature, the Maashorst is also known for the cherry cultivation around Uden. Farmers in the Maashorst have been growing the Uden sweet cherry for decades. Other cherry varieties, such as the Hedelfinger cherry, the Inspector Löhnis, the Early Rivers, the Mierlo black cherry and the Varik black cherry are also grown in abundance in this area.
During this cycle route, you can taste all the goodies produced in the Maashorst and its surroundings. Of course, complete your Burgundian experience with a special beer from the Special Beer Brewery in Oijen.
