Family route merrily through the South Holland polders
Groot-Ammers, Nieuwpoort, Ottoland
We deliberately kept this fascinating cycle route short. This allows the whole family to experience this nice day out and make the most of the selected Pit stops. Let's start with the landscape, because it already seems to come straight from a picture book of Dutch landscapes. No wonder, because here you see vast polder landscape as far as the eye can see, accompanied by windmills, waters, farms and much more Dutch beauty, if that doesn't cheer you up....
Then we pull out some more, how about the Lek? You cycle for several kilometres along the Lekdijk. On one side of the dyke, you have a view of the impressive Lek and its floodplains, and on the other side idyllic farms, small villages and a real picturesque fortified town: Nieuwpoort. You cycle past remnants of the Old Dutch Water Defence Lines and the beautiful park Slot Langerak. Still not happy?
That's hardly possible, but don't worry, there's more. We found a whole list of fascinating, educational and fun Pit stops in this region to suit the whole family. You can hire a boat from the Fish Shop by the Mill. You will learn a lot about the history of the Old Dutch Water Defence Lines when you check in with your own phone at that funny VR pole along the route. At the adventure farm you will make memories to remember and at the Landwinkel you will pick up a nice souvenir to enjoy at home. Guaranteed to make the whole family happy now!
