Exotic cycle route across the German border
Neede, Eibergen, Zwillbrock
This cycle route takes you via the beautiful nature area of Haaksbergerveen across the German border to the exotic Zwillbrocker Venn. Since the 1980s, a group of flamingos has found the peat bog near Zwillbrock every spring. From the viewing platforms in the area, the group of around forty flamingos can be admired from a distance. Some years, the birds even lay eggs, but because of the foxes that lie in wait, the risk that these eggs will not survive is unfortunately very high.
Even if the flamingos have already left Zwillbrock, the area is still worth seeing. Everywhere you look, you will be surprised by the flora and fauna. All secrets of this natural beauty can be discovered in the Zwillbrocker Venn visitor centre.
Just like the flamingos, you will have to leave the area again to continue your journey. Cross the border again and get back among the people in the cosy villages Neede and Eibergen.
