Cycle route Path of the Paupers
Willemsoord, Weerribben, Blokzijl
From Willemsoord (Colonies of Benevolence) you go straight through National Park Weerribben-Wieden to Blokzijl. You thus follow the path taken by the colonists 200 years ago. Via the Zuiderzee, they arrived in Blokzijl and then continued by barge to Steenwijk. They then travelled on foot and on carts to Willemsoord, Wilhelminaoord and Frederiksoord. Most with nothing in their pockets. Tip: Take some change along the way. The ferry at Jonen connects the cycle route from Giethoorn to Blokzijl. A fantastic experience.
