The forests and moors of the Veluwe are the habitat of wild boar, deer, roe deer, badgers and foxes. With this tour near Epe, you have a good chance of coming face to face with wildlife, as Epe offers a 100% wildlife guarantee! In September and October, the red deer are in heat and you can hear the belligerent males bellowing in the distance. Also for the wild boars mating season starts in September. The piglets with their pyjama stripes on their fur are born between February and June. Watch out for the mother boar: she usually runs away, but sometimes she can be unexpectedly aggressive! On the way, stop at observation point 't Eperholt, where you can peek at the wildlife from behind a viewing wall. A little further on, you have the watchtower De Haelberg, which gives you a wonderful view of the area. Tips from the forester: Go early, the best chance to see wildlife is at sunrise. The deer are ready for a new feeding round around 15:00, so after 15:00 you have a better chance again.
