In just over two and a half hours, you will cycle over or along the Vierhoutensche Heide, Doornspijkse Heide, Tongerensche Heide and the Elspeetse Heide. Do you love greenery and nature? Then you really don't want to skip this cycle route! The heath and woods near Vierhouten have existed for over a century and played an important role for refugees in World War II. Indeed, during your route you will pass Het Verscholen Dorp. This is where some 80 people found refuge from discovery during the Second World War. Visit the disembarkation point and learn more about this piece of history. But there is more history in this region. Dive into the Stone Age at the burial mounds in Vierhouten. Finally, you will come across a special work of art while cycling, namely the Pyramids of Daniel George. So, an informative and beautiful cycle route!
