Eibergen, Zwillbrock, Vreden
They are exotic, elegant and light pink in colour. They often stand on one leg and one of the places where they do so is in the Zwillbrocker Venn. The flamingo is the secret of Zwillbrocker Venn! Every year between March and June, a colony of sometimes as many as forty flamingos settle down in the nature reserve to breed. When the birds have hatched, they leave for a warmer place. But the area is also worth visiting during the other months, because apart from the flamingo, you will find much more natural beauty here. From the bird observation tower, you can take an unobtrusive look into the lives of these various animals. On the way, pay attention: just across the border back in the Netherlands, between cycling junctions 54 and 52, another secret is hidden.
