Cycle route along the Midden-Regge

Follow the river Midden-Regge and discover the varied surroundings of Twente with this cycle route. Did you know that the Regge is mentioned in Twente's national anthem from 1926? The Regge has been taken in hand in recent years to give the river more space. The emphasis was on combining water with nature. The Midden-Regge has been transformed into a natural river system over a distance of ten kilometres. This has created a larger area where water storage and nature development have been given a chance. Via the river, you reach the village of Nijverdal. In the Second World War, the village was rocked by an accidental bombing that killed 73 people. You can learn more about this event and its consequences in the Memory Museum.
