When you think of Drenthe, you often think of the cities Assen and Emmen. Right in between are places like Exloo and Kibbelveen. Well worth the effort! This cycle route is really one for those who love visual arts and history. Exloo is situated in the middle of woods, heath and moor. No wonder that many people come to enjoy these surroundings. The largest hunebed in the Netherlands is in Borger, which also has a church tower from the 14th century. Kibbelveen is a hamlet of about 15 houses. Peat was dug here until the 19th century, but there were often disputes about the ownership rights. And that is how Kibbelveen got its name...
