Cycle route through the Wassenaar dunes
The Hague, Wassenaar, Scheveningen
It is wonderful to cycle between Scheveningen and Wassenaar. The Wassenaar dunes form the backdrop to this route, with rolling paths, dune grass and impressive views. Here you can experience the tranquillity of nature, while the sea is never far away. The route takes about two hours, but chances are you will be on the road longer. Not only because of the attraction of the beach, but also because of the special places along the route. For example, make a stop at Museum and Country Estate Voorlinden, where modern art and nature blend seamlessly into one another. Or visit the Sculpture Garden at Country Estate Clingenbosch, where you will find sculptures by famous artists among the greenery. Further on, the route takes you past the Atlantic Wall, a tangible reminder of the Second World War, and through the Haagse Bos, one of the oldest forests in the Netherlands. The royal family once cycled here, and if you ride through the wide avenues, you may feel a little bit royal yourself.
