Cycle route along northern Egypt

Although the name suggests something tropical, you are actually cycling through the heart of traditional Holland. How the village of Egypt got its name is unclear, but it could be that gypsies lived here and gave the area this name. During this cycle route along northern Egypt, you will cycle through flat polders and beautiful natural landscapes. Take some time to stop at the Diakonievene, for example. Peat used to be dug here, which the church used to provide poor people in the area with some warmth in winter. Now these excavations have created a beautiful area with lakes and heathland. To stay abroad for a while, you can also stop at ‘t Bokkehûske. This old, small house owes its name to a farmer who used to live here. This farmer had a rather sought-after billy goat, so farmers from the surrounding area often came here with their goats to mate. Next to the house, you will now find a beautiful English garden, where the splendour of the flora and fauna will greet you. Parking is easy at the Diakonievene.
