Every year, many visitors travel to Harderwijk to enjoy music, theatre, good food, a ride on the merry-go-round or whatever else is invented during the creative festivals such as 'Blije Bietjes' or 'Happy Campers'. Alternate the cultural festivities with a beautiful bicycle ride through the varied nature. From the centre of Harderwijk you can be in the woods, heathland, shifting sands and farmland in no time. Harderwijk is an old Hanseatic city. Its grandeur can be found in the city centre, where the monumental old city hall dominates the market. Just a little further on, there is an old fisherman's house, nowadays the home of the Harderwijker Town Guild. It is certainly worthwhile to take a city walk with an enthusiastic city guide. They will take you to the wealth and poverty of Harderwijk's past. Be sure to book in advance. Nunspeet was originally a poor town threatened by encroaching sand drifts until it was afforested in the early twentieth century. Nowadays Nunspeet is mainly known for its beautiful surroundings and the many possibilities for holidaymakers and recreationists. No wonder, because Nunspeet has woodland, water, sand and heath. For both the nature lover and the sportsman Nunspeet has something to offer! Enjoy the panoramic views over the Veluwemeer on the one side, the forests, heaths and sand drifts within a few kilometres on the other, and the pleasant historical town centres and villages in between.
