Cycle route around the Twiske
Landsmeer, Ilpendam
The Twiske lies in the old peat area of Waterland. In the middle of it lies the Stootersplas, created by sand extraction for the area around the Coentunnel. The north side of the Twiske is mainly for nature lovers, the south side more for water sports enthusiasts. Around the water you can experience a lot of adventures! Are you crazy about animals? During this cycle route, you will pass no fewer than three farms. Here you can meet all kinds of farm animals, such as cows, horses, pigs, chickens and more. If you're looking for a bit more excitement, then Klimpark Twiske is the place to be! Put on your climbing trousers and let yourself be challenged over the various courses. But also at the Adventure playground you can enjoy climbing, clambering and playing with water. Enjoy the primeval Dutch polders between the small peat village of Ilpendam and Landsmeer. Who knows, you might even be able to hire a boat at the Bezoekerscentrum Ilpenveld to discover the beautiful surroundings from the water. Tired but satisfied, you can then drop in at one of the restaurants along the way. That was a fun day! There are various parking spaces around the Twiske, such as at cycle junction 17.
