Tsjûkemar (Tjeuke Lake) is a breathtaking nature reserve situated on a beautiful lake. It offers an abundance of peace and space, allowing you to immerse yourself in its serene surroundings. During the summer months, the lake bustles with water sports activities, so there is always something to do. Highly recommended is attending the Dolle Brede Days, when the village comes alive with all sorts of exciting activities taking place on and around the atmospheric bridge. As you cycle around the lake, you will be treated to beautiful views, picturesque villages and stunning natural scenery. Don't forget to bring your camera to look for beautiful reflections in the shimmering water or capture intriguing vistas between the trees. One of the highlights of the route is Joure, where you pass an old Douwe Egberts factory. The air here is still filled with the delicious smell of freshly ground coffee. Who knows, you might even get a chance to grind a cup of coffee and enjoy the authentic aromas!
