De Maashorst is beautiful and you will discover it during this cycle route. The four reserves in De Maashorst are special. Because of the earthquake that originated in these reserves groundwater comes to the surface. The calcium-rich water provides for special nature. De Maashorst is the habitat of various species of amphibians, reptiles and rare insects. Because of its great diversity, the province Noord-Brabant has designated it a Provincial Landscape. De Maashorst not only accommodates beautiful nature, but also numerous ancient treasures such as burial mounds and urn fields. De Maashorst is also referred to as the primal area of Brabant, perhaps you will spot the primal animals that still roam around here. Visit Natuurcentrum De Maashorst to learn all about this special environment and don't miss out on Natuurpoort De Kriekeput.
