Cycle route around Hof Espelo Estate

This route revolves around the Hof Espelo estate, where you could enjoy yourself all day. A multifaceted landscape of wooded banks, streams, springs, photogenic vistas and a rare collection of flora and fauna - a visitor centre has been created in the old coach house where you can go for information. There is a scramble forest, a food forest and you can regularly find a gnome. As early as 1215, the Hof Espelo estate was mentioned as property of the Catholic church. It had a powerful finger in the pie, as nearby Oldenzaal was Twente's most important religious centre around that time. Start your cycle tour at TOP Oldenzaal and cycle through the bustling Twente town, past the former Twente airbase towards the Hof Espelo country estate. Haven't had enough of nature after Hof Espelo? There are even more beautiful estates on this route, such as Landgoed Snippert and Boerskotten. Zwerferf Sprakel and the Lonneker mill are also well worth a visit. The best place to recover from all this wonderful natural beauty is at one of the fine terraces on this route.
