Cycling route noble houses and national monuments
Lunteren, Scherpenzeel, Renswoude, Woudenberg
This cycle route takes you to Woudenberg. This village is known for, among other things, the Grebbelinie, a preliminary defence of the Dutch Waterline based on inundation (deliberately flooding an area). In and around Woudenberg, there are many national monuments.
You will also pass through Scherpenzeel. Although much destruction was caused in the Second World War, Scherpenzeel still has a few monumental buildings. Besides the protected monuments, Scherpenzeel also has a number of trees with historical, scenic or ecological value. The village of De Glind is also known as 'Jeugddorp De Glind' (youth village De Glind), because children who have been placed out of home are traditionally cared for in a family home here. Various (youth) care institutions are active in the village; the Rudolph Foundation manages a large part of the buildings.
