Joop Doderer has played the sympathetic vagabond in the popular TV series for twenty years. Many of his adventures with Saartje, Malle Pietje, the mayor and last but not least field guard Bromsnor took place here. Although many recordings were made in the studio, most of the outdoor recordings were made in and around Oudewater. For example on the Ruigeweide (between junctions 95 and 96).
