Cycle route with dunes, villages and the sea
Beverwijk, Heemskerk, Castricum, Wijk aan Zee
Enjoy the beautiful dunes, the flora & fauna and the places around the dunes. The Noordhollands Duinreservaat (dune reserve) along which you cycle is unique in the Netherlands and even in Europe. It is an unspoilt stretch of dune land that covers 5,500 hectares and stretches from Wijk aan Zee to Schoorl. In this area, you have a very varied view that is almost nowhere in the Netherlands. On the way, you have a view of the North Sea, but you also cycle along cosy villages, through the woods, on country roads and through the countryside. In addition to the unique surroundings, you will also pass buildings that are full of history, such as castles, forts and country estates.
Please note: to cycle through the Noordhollands Duinreservaat, you need to buy a ticket (from 18 years of age). This can be done via www.pwn.nl/duinkaartkopen. Also pay attention to the access rules, indicated on the signs and on the walking- and cycling map of PWN.
