Cycle route Welcome to the Spanders Forest
Hilversum, Nederhorst den Berg
Hilversum is known as a media city and is home to many national broadcasters. But it is less well known that there is a lot of beautiful nature around the city.
This cycle route takes you along the water areas Wijde Blik, de Spiegel, Blijkpolderplas and through the Loenderveense Plassen.
Near Hilversum, you cycle through the Spanderswoud, originally a production forest, but since 1981 nature has been allowed to take its own course here. The old beech trees are a beautiful sight in every season and the various species of forest birds, mushrooms and bats feel completely at home here.
Now you have seen the city, the water and the forest, we would also like to take you to the other natural beauty in the vicinity of Hilversum: heathland. In the summer it is beautifully purple and in the winter misty and mysterious. You cycle along the Bussumerheide, Westerheide, Zuiderheide and to the edge of the Hoorneboegse Heide where you will find many burial mounds.
Get to know the natural side of Hilversum and enjoy!
