Cycle route Veluwe folk tales (part 2)
Renkum, Otterlo, Arnhem
Folktales can teach us a lot.On this bicycle route you will unravel the mystical and historical stories of the Veluwe. The route starts at Ede. If you come by car you can park your car at the parking lot at the Eder Heide and change to the bike here.
Would the mysterious stories on this route be true or false? You will discover why you should not get too high in your head like the white damsel who used to live in Grunsfoort Castle. On the site of the castle you can now only see the outlines, but it is said that the white damsel still appears when the moonlight turns the water of the Renkum stream white....
Another lesson from this route is to be careful what you say. The story of the burning shepherd tells you why. Don't be blinded by beauty, because that can just give you unpleasant consquences as it did for Johan van Otterloo.
On this route you will find not only mysterious, but also true stories of history. For example, take a look at the Old Church in Oosterbeek. During the Second World War eight days of fighting took place here.
