Cycle Route through the Kempen region in North Brabant
Bergeijk, Luyksgestel, Eersel
Tell people that you are going to cycle in Toxandria and everyone will be surprised. Yet the beautiful Toxandria is nothing but the old name for the Kempen. The Kempenland starts between Eindhoven and Tilburg and runs across the border into the northeast of Belgium.
Although the soil of the Kempen originally consists mainly of sand, nature is varied. This is clearly visible in the beautiful nature reserves that you cycle past. Add the various nature gates to your cycle route and don't miss a single piece of nature! For example, in the middle of the Brabantse Kempen you will find the Land van de Acht Zaligheden, at Natuurpoort TerSpegelt. If you cycle towards De Brandtoren, you will discover the Peelse Heide and you can climb the 25 metre high watchtower. For those who like a bit of history, Natuurpoort De Negende Zaeligheyt is worth a visit. From here you can take a look at the Cartierheide. This area is also known as the green border region and Napoleon left his mark here.
