Cycle route The most beautiful parks of The Hague
The Hague, Rijswijk
During your city break in The Hague, this cycle route allows you to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, while still being right in the middle of it. All in all, The Hague does have more than 111,000 hectares of green areas! The dunes, parks and country estates form the basis of this delightful route.
Start your route at Scheveningen harbour. From here, you will leave for the romantic Westbroek Park. The large ponds invite you to swap your bike for a small boat trip through the park. If you cycle the route between June and October, you will be extra lucky! Then the roses of the International Rosarium are in full bloom and together they form a beautiful sea of colours.
Not long after, you cycle past Landgoed Clingendael, one of the most beautiful parks in the royal palace and perhaps even in the Netherlands. You admire the rare Japanese Garden and imagine yourself in times gone by as you meander through the old Dutch gardens, leafy copses of trees and beautiful waters.
Cycle a little further at node 31 to visit the historic Palace Garden. Via the Trekvliet and a short trip through Rijswijk, where you pass the Te Werve estate, you arrive at the Zuiderpark. This park is a lovely ending to your route. With an Arboretum, a flower and herb garden, playgrounds and a barbecue area, you immediately understand why residents of The Hague love to hang out here on a nice day.
Those few bits where you briefly drive through city traffic you just take for granted. Because the route is not very long, you have plenty of time to enjoy the most beautiful parks. Don't forget your picnic basket!
