Cycle route Taste the Zeeland countryside
Brouwershaven, Zonnemaire, Nieuwerkerk
Did you know that Schouwen-Duiveland is full of farms, nurseries and growers? Zeeland's clay proves to be fertile ground for the tastiest local produce. Strap your panniers on the back and set off on this delicious route.
You can taste and buy fresh fruit and vegetables at the Groente- en Fruithuisje, Boerderij Kik and Kwekerij Zuidbos, among others. At De Plukpolder it is a real experience, as you harvest your own vegetables and herbs straight from the garden here.
In this region, you see beautiful blossoms in spring, for example at the Schouwse Kers cherry orchard in Dreischor. From June to the end of August, you can taste and pick deliciously sweet and juicy cherries here. A little further on, you pass a real vineyard: De Kleine Schorre. Between the green vines, you imagine yourself in France. Naturally, you can enjoy a home-made wine here.
You will find salty Zeeland cheese at De Stolpe farm, made according to traditional methods. You will not only find mature farm cheese, but also cheeses with various herbs, nuts and even pesto.
Of course, your table is not complete without the right decoration. Visit picking garden La Fleur in Noordgouwe, where you can pick the most beautiful flowers yourself from March to September. Tulips, roses, sunflowers... There is a flower in bloom every day.
After this pleasant cycle route through Zeeland's countryside, you will have gathered a meal to enjoy at the table in the evening. A feast is in store...
