Cycle route Rock & Roll in the Achterhoek
Winterswijk, Groenlo
Get on your bike and experience all the beauty the Achterhoek has to offer. Discover the historic village of Winterswijk, where painter Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) spent his teenage years. The years that shaped him and in which he searched for his own signature. Despite the fact that the man previously belonged to the posh avant-garde and did not exactly exude rock&roll, he had a lifelong connection with Winterswijk.
The fortified town of Groenlo is also a great place to get off your bike for a while. Visit the creepy dungeons under Groenlo's town hall, or stay above ground and take a good look around, you might just find a live (rock) band performing.
Discover these and other interesting places on this route, but also experience the tranquillity of the Achterhoek in the countryside and nature reserves. Along the way, tap your own milk or, slightly more rock&roll, your own beer and enjoy the green expanses through which several rivers and streams flow.
On this cycle route you will encounter all kinds of things, so get on and 'Roll' through the beautiful Achterhoek!
