Cycle route Pure Enjoyment | Regional products
Zutphen, Vorden, Bronkhorst
De Keuken van Hackfort is all about 'Pure Delight': enjoying all the good things from the Achterhoek in their purest form. With local products they compose their menu. In cooperation with De Keuken van Hackfort, we created four Pure Enjoyment cycle routes. The routes take you to places where culinary products are produced and where you can experience and taste the Achterhoek. This cycle route takes you past the restaurant's local suppliers.
For the first ingredient, you don't have to look far: Blonde D'Aquitaine cows graze in the meadow next to Kasteel Hackfort. Once in a while, the restaurant buys one of these cows, which they carefully incorporate into their dishes. Now that's local!
Fresh fruit and vegetables are supplied by Fruitbedrijf Horstink in Rha and organic farm Korenblik in Warnsveld. The cycle route takes you past these farms. The offer of the farms varies with the seasons, but in summer you can get delicious strawberries at both! The farm shops are open regularly, so you can buy the fresh produce. Other delicacies from fellow farms are also offered in the shops, such as dairy, farmhouse cheeses, nuts, eggs and oils. With so many goodies, an extra pannier will not be a luxury....
In Rha, you will also pass the Bronckhorster Brewing Company, the brewery where De Keuken van Hackfort sources its speciality beers. An old farmhouse has been converted into a brewery where the most diverse beers are now brewed. All brewed using traditional methods, of course. Besides a fixed assortment, new, surprising special beers are created regularly. The brewery also moves with the seasons: the range and flavour variations are based on the time of year. Therefore, even on the drinks menu at De Keuken van Hackfort, it is always a surprise which special beer you can taste, but guaranteed that your beer will go perfectly with your dish!
Get on your bike and travel through the beautiful Achterhoek countryside, visiting local growers, breeders and brewers. From Rha, cross the IJssel river with the Bronkhorsterveer. Via the green floodplains of the IJssel, you cycle towards Zutphen. This Hanseatic city in Gelderland has a beautiful historic centre full of medieval alleys, green courtyards and in the authentic buildings you will find nice boutiques and speciality shops. Of course, we have added the tourist highlights of Zutphen to the cycle route.
