Cycle route Pieterpad | Venray

Venray, Boxmeer, Overloon
Two friends, Toos and Bertje, conceived of and walked the Pieterpad trail between 1978 and 1983. A long-distance hiking route (500 km) from Pieterburen in the north of Groningen to Mount St Peter in the south of Limburg in 26 stages that are easily accessible by public transport and where you can spend the night. The landscape along the way is extremely varied, but equally beautiful everywhere.
Where you can walk, you can also cycle, and we wouldn't be the Fietsnetwerk if we didn't map out a number of beautiful cycling trips for you inspired by the Pieterpad. We created a series of routes totalling almost 1300 km along all the Pieterpad locations. In loops, so that you always return to your starting point. This part goes from Boxmeer via Overloon and Venray to Blitterswijck.
You will encounter many beautiful things along the way. In Boxmeer, for example, you can visit Castle Boxmeer and the Saint Peter's Basilica. In Overloon you can visit the impressive War Museum, where the Battle of Overloon is commemorated. The natural beauty is also not to be despised.
In Wanssum you can ride along the harbour, which has been of great economic importance for decades. In 1934, an industrial harbour was dug to create jobs. In 1963, a cosy marina was added. In and around the village of Wanssum there are many chapels and crucifixes in memory of the Catholic faith.
Start and end your route at the pick-up point, located between junctions 54 and 44 near Overloon. There is ample parking here and after your bike ride you have a place to go to end the day with a delicious snack and drink.
Here you can expand your route with pitstops
